Instant hot water and great water pressure for our outdoor shower

It's great! Easy hook-up. Everything needed to put it into service is provided. Excellent flow; no different than indoor. We plumbed it to a yard hydrant and to an outdoor red shower and kitchen. Plenty of hot water for everyone. Highly recommended.

We love it! Using it to make our pool a hot tub.
Carl J.5/5Verified
set it up on a hand truck so I can move it around. It’s going to be used to wash horses so portability was important. The only thing I wish it had was a longer hose for the nozzle. I can’t get to both sides of the horse with just 6’ so an extension would have been good. Otherwise, water is warm enough for the horse and the water pressure is really excellent. Rinsing is always an issue, this totally met the need.

I've been meaning to write this for awhile. 2 months ago I bought the 2.64 gpm unit. Friends were renovating an old inn and I finally found a great old claw foot bathtub to put on my deck. Rather than plumb it to the house I used this unit. It's fantastic! I get about 17 full tubs (about 45 gallons/tub) per 20lbs of propane (750 gallons!). I retrofitted a steel cabinet with a vent to put the unit in so it can stay outside without getting wet. It produces HOT (135°) water. I cannot say enough good things about taking a bath under the stars. The unit can be adjusted for temp and tweaked even more for flow of gas and water. I plumbed the bath with hot and cold feeds but was impressed just the same with its adjustability. The knobs seem a bit cheap, the battery box too feels weak and cheap but I've had no issues. I'd question taking this car camping unless I made it a case to protect it and it's kinda big for that. However it would have been fantastic to take in my travel trailer. For next seasons annual CA third world style power outages I'll be adding a 12v pump to a cistern for showers.

This water heater is used to heat the water in a custom built 400 gallon outdoor hot tub. It has been in use for about 8 months and has worked perfectly so far. The water temperature in the spa will rise 10 degrees F in about 40 minutes at the maximum setting. A 20 lb propane bottle lasts about 3 weeks in the winter with moderate use. The pump used with the heater should be a diaphragm type capable of at least 3 gpm at 50 psi. We use a Shurflo 115v pump Model #4008-171-A65. You must use a pleated spa filter with this setup as debris from the spa will quickly clog the tiny filter on the water heater. Note that this heater was designed for heating water for an outdoor shower. It is used mostly by RVers for this purpose. However, with a well designed setup, the heater works great for a hot tub. Hopefully, it will last for many years.

Let me just first say, we live in Maine. The summers are beautiful but mornings are often cold. Every year when we travel to warmer locations I fall in love with outside showers. I came back from Marco Island FL once again raving about the beauty of an outside shower. Hubs had ordered the propane heater! It takes a gas grill size tank, mounted and running by the time I got off the plane!!The water temp can be easily adjusted and as you can see he bought me a nicer shower head. It is almost instant warming up to 101 degrees. Would be perfect to wash the pups too but my big girls won’t have anything to do with it. This girl, however is on week four of only showering in the beautiful outdoors!!! If you aren’t sure about buying this I hope my review helps you decide !!!

I got this for bathing my horse. It was a little intimidating to get set up, but not actually very difficult. When hooked up to a regular garden hose, it makes sufficient water and heat for comfortable baths. It's been working well, no complications. I swapped out the included shower hose for a regular, longer hose and it still works great.
Blake M.4/5Verified
It works as a charm, we use it after surfing every time, the water giving just enough, and quickly have ourselves washed up. Back in April, I was wondering if it would work for a long period. No doubt right now, I would totally recommend it to people who haven't had one.

This works very well and instant hot water. Setup was easy!!
Elton L.5/5Verified
instructions could have been better
Jeanette P.4/5Verified
I think the heater is a great quality and works as it should, however I should have ordered something larger to heat our pool.

Works Great

The unit is working great. The instructions were not so good. Why is there instructions for a bait box! Why is there a picture of a boat? You need to review your instructions and remove these references.

I bought a replacement but my old one started working again so I haven't got to use this one yet
Warren H.5/5Verified
Works great! A lot of water pressure
Alisa E.5/5Verified
The heater is working good, but at this point only when I used full water pressure from a faucet. My concern is that the heater calls for water pressure of 3.6-110 PSI (in your troubleshooting guide) and the pump, that came with my heater, the bw264 series, is rated at 3.3 PSI. At this point, I had not tried to use the pump yet( I had to get the pipe thread to hose adaptor yet), but, just having purchased it, I will try to use it in within the next day or so. My hope is that your company will let me upgrade to a higher output pump and I would have no issue paying the difference in cost
Patrik L.4/5Verified
Works well but all the water connection points leak. So trying to figure that out.
Anthony G.4/5Verified
The heater works well; however, the weather cap does not fit. How can I return it and get one that fits???
Francisco J.4/5Verified
Really easy to set up. Works great for my off grid cabin. Good quality parts

I've had his for about 3 months. I just hooked up it all up this past weekend. It blew my mind on how it easy it was to set up, and how it worked. Very happy

Lost power for a few days and had no hot water. It was mid 30's just above freezing out. I set this up on my deck and ran a 50' hose from the outdoor spigot (with extremely cold water), and another 50' hose to my bathroom shower. The water heated instantly, and stayed a consistent temperature indefinitely. My wife, son, and myself all took showers that totaled approximately an hour of nonstop use. Water pressure & volume were same as the real shower, but this actually stayed hot the entire time, vs running out like a normal tank. I went with this larger size because I didn't quite believe how efficient it would be in very cold weather, but it preformed perfectly. I'm a little upset with the shower head though. Everything other than it would be perfect, guess I will buy one more shower head as a backup.

Overall, I am happy with this purchase, but it's a "value" purchase, so don't expect super high quality. Once installed, I find the pressure good and the ability to regulate heat and flow is very good. I use it on my outdoor kitchen and it feeds both the hand held shower spray for washing my dog, and I tee it into my outdoor kitchen sink. I'm very happy with the performance. For the negatives, the hand held shower spray is a bit lower quality, but you can swap it for one you buy on your own, which is not expensive. Also, you have to be very careful with the connections as they tend to leak. Pipe dope or Teflon tape is a must, but be careful you don't overtighten the water inlet as the connection is kind of weak and can break. The other negative is the battery compartment is good on the bottom, but it WILL corrode if left outdoors. My first one corroded out in a year, but I liked the performance so I did buy another. This one I have a waterproof cover on when not in use, and I have seen no issues. The bottom line is if you are looking for a high quality, super durable heater to function like your indoor water heater, this is not it, but that is not it's intended purpose either. It's ideal for a portable hot water source such as for RV camping. In can add hot water to an outdoor kitchen, and with care and common sense it is a great value to add hot water outside. Overall, I recommend it.

Our hot water heater was flawed and ordered one unit from Camplux. They got our heater to us wicked fast, and this one works perfectly! It is always consistently hot, and has great pressure. We could not be happier!
This hot water heat is amazing! We have five people in our camper , including 3 teenagers and we can always count on having hot water for showers and dishes. It was so easy to set up and worked in just minutes. I recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade their campers, camp grounds, or garages.

These things are very good for most part. Easy to install and when they work, they, they work great. There can be some issues. I've owned two, the 4.6 gpm and the 2.6 gpm. I use is for an outdoor shower and tub coming off a 60 psi well system which was originally a gravity fed system, so I've used them both ways . The biggest problem is the sensors they use. The manual says that you can have as low as 3.6 psi and still function. That's just wishful thinking on their part. I've got a calibrated pressure gauge on my system leading to my shower, and anything below 20 psi will cause issues. Mainly, the sensor not registering enough water flow to turn on the Camplux, even though water is flowing. If you've got city or well water, you're probably good. If you're off-grid and using gravity, your psi better be above 20. The other thing that is tricky is the propane regulator. They include one in with the heater, however, my first one was defective, and you might spend some time finding one that is synced with the heater. Some of the off the shelf ones used for grill will not work due to the gas sensor in heater being somewhat finicky. So if the propane tank is full and valve open, and the heater sounds like it's trying to light, but still nothing, It's probably the regulator. Adjusting the gas will not help, because that's just for the flame height once it's lit. Like I said, when it works, it's great, but it might take some tweaking on your part.

FAQ
The essential type (AY132 & AY132B) does not draw water by itself as it does not have a built-in pump. You will need a pressurised water source to feed water into the unit. Consider our Complete Pump Pack
To drain the device properly, please open the drain stern at the bottom right of the water heater, turning in a counter clockwise direction. Disconnect all incoming and outgoing water lines to ensure proper drainage from the water heater.
As long as you have good water supply.
Camplux Camper Kit has an adjustable water flow rate between 2.5-6 LPM (0.6-1.6 GPM). So, if you want a 5-minute shower, you will use between 12.5-30 litres (3.3-8 gallons) of water.
The unit was designed for portable outdoor use. It is splash-proof and can manage a little drizzle, however, prolonged exposure to rain/water will damage the internal components. We recommend our Pro Series which can install a weather-proof rain cap and has larger flow rate (from 1.58 to 5.28 GPM).
It uses gas to heat up water and can run off 9kg (20lb) BBQ gas bottles for 16 hours of continuous use.
