Customer photo review of Camplux 1.32 GPM Outdoor Portable Propane Gas Camping Shower with Pump Pack Kits, Grey

Used it for the first time on a duck hunting trip. Nice to have a hot shower after a long day. Only reason for not giving it 5 stars is that it would be nice to have a connection for the small propane bottles (5 gallon cans take a lot of space for a short trip) and it would be nice to have a way to secure the pump hose in the water jug. Nevertheless it did the job quite well.

I found this unit to be very useful. I am much happier getting the 12v pump with the water heater together since it is sized correctly for the unit. Been taking showers with it now for a few weeks at our off-grid cabin while we build our forever home nearby. I bought a small 12v battery that has it's own on/off switch, a 5-gallon bucket, and a small length of clear tubing for the over-pressure drain valve on the bottom of the water heater that feeds into the same bucket. So the only thing I will say is that temperature control is really based on the temperature of the water you freed it. I wait until just before I need a shower in this heat (80 -90 degree days) to pump water from my well so it's nice and cold. Because this water heater will make the water too hot even on the lowest setting if you don't start with relatively cool water. It heats whatever the temperature of the water is a set number of degrees warming (based on the red temp knob). A 5-gallon bucket is enough water for a comfortable shower, including shaving in the shower. I would highly recommend the unit WITH the pump, they just work well together. I also bought a nicer hand held shower head just to make it even better.

I ordered the Camplux 5L 1.32GPM heater along with 12-volt pump. I used a 1000L (275 gallon) water cube for water, picked up a $13 battery from Walmart, connected a solar-based trickle-charger that keeps the battery fully charged in the New Mexico high desert, and then connected it all together. I built a wooden structure around it, and a porous floor with stones underneath for drainage and used some canvas fabric for the summer since wood is currently outrageously expensive. I know have an amazing summer shower. It worked the very first time. Once the water pressure kicks in from the 12-volt DC pump, the heater detects it, and kicks on as well and within 30 seconds heated water is pouring out. Plan on using 5-10 gallons of water per shower as it's quite enjoyable outside. The water is a bit hot, and I am trying to find the right blend of water pressure and propane gas to keep the water from being too hot.Solar-powered, off-grid hybrid shower solution. Pretty cool and the fact it worked the first time is amazing.

Ok this product makes my life better !I work concrete construction and after a hard day on the job my outdoor shower is something to look forward to!I purchased a extended propane hose so the propane bottle could be hidden, got a splitter for the house made the shower and your all set! It’s very adjustable..can get very hot if you want...The only thing that I can complain about is the vent is very wind sensitive... a stiff breeze will blow out the flames..I rectified the situation by getting a piece of tin to partially cover it when it’s windy and when it cools to cover it from rain. The shower head turns it on and off with a button on the handle...it fires right up and I get hot water in 5 seconds..Enjoy !You won’t be disappointed

I was so sad this didnt work. After messing with this for a few days trying to get it to work, we finally figured out we didn't have enough water pressure for it to stay on. We took this camping hoping we could use to wash off our grandkids' dirty feet, hands and faces but the heat kept shutting off. We had a fifty foot hose connected to it. Guess that was too far from the spigot? Hoping to figure out how to get this to work at home.

So far I'm loving this portable on-demand hot water heater. We use it to get our spa to temperature quickly and even warm up the pool!Normally with the portable spa heater it can take anywhere from 8 to 15 hours to heat it to 102 degrees depending on starting temperature . This little heater can get it up to temp in one half to one hour depending on starting temperature. Its so easy to use and ignites first time every time. Its been the answer to our prayers. A tank of Propane last quite awhile too. I've been using it a couple of months now and no problems. The hand held shower is really nice too, gives decent pressure and gas a water pause button to boot. I"ll update if anything Changes with it. Overall I'm very impressed with it. Update, still working awesome!! First use of the summer it fired right up. Still really impressed with this little water heater.

Oh how a hot shower can improve your mood after multiple days of grime. We used this during a 2 week hunting trip.WATER SUPPLY This needs a minimum of 10psi water pressure to work. We used a 12 volt submersible pump into the creek and a portable power station for electricity. Mind you were also packing solar panels to recharge the power station. Or you can use a gravity feed bag, a foot pump, or whatever you come up with, the submersible pump gives much better water pressure. Of course if available a water spigot and hose works. Let's face it though, I don't care if it's a trickle of hot water when Im ladened with filth when far away from modern conveniences.AUTO IGNITION This takes 2 D cell batteries to work. The water pressure triggers the electric ignition circuit. This means it will only heat when the correct water pressure is present and will automatically cut off the gas supply when it isn't. For reference water pressure needs to be a minimum of 10psi to trigger the automatic ignition, so you need to be able to meet that demand. Maximum water pressure is 110psi.PROPANE USAGE I can't confirm how much propane it goes through since we had it on a "Y" sharing the 5 lbs tank with our stove. Since we only showered 4 times using fast water saving techniques, (meaning get wet, turn the water off, lather up, then quickly rinse) and washed our hands and dishes daily in 2 weeks. I'd say it ran a total 45 minutes or so, and judged it went through 1 to 1-1/2 lbs of propane, since it was cold out and we had this baby cranked as hot as it would go, so of course it used more propane than if it was on a lower setting in a warmer climate.OVERALL THOUGHTS I have zero complaints but only one gripe. The red hose connected to the shower head is stiff, and not cooperative at all in colder weather. I'll be changing this to a differenttype of tubing to make it user friendly in the cold.JUST AN FYI This is recommended to use a maximum size of 20lb propane tank. Hopefully this was helpful, and font forget to take a D cell batteries and spares.Thank you!

This package is really awesome looking and can't wait to try it in the "wild" soon. From the unboxing, I can tell a lot of thought went into the entire concept and package. The feet can attach to provide stability on the ground. There is a good handle on the top, and mounting holes to secure it on a wall as another option. The propane hose is nice, quick connect onto the heater, and the other end fits a 20lb tank. The quick connect water lines are also really slick. The shower head connects on the output w/ the red hose and has a pause (stops the water) button. Unfortunately this kit does not come with an INPUT hose, to use and connect your water supply from. That is why I took off 1 star. The inlet/outlet quick connects look standard, but may be Camplux proprietary connectors. I'll need to find a water inlet hose. There are other kits from Camplux that include the water inlet line (blue) and a 12V pump. This system says it will work on just a couple of PSI, so my DIY water tank should work. Overall, it weighs 10lbs, and packs up nicely into a specially designed tote bag that seems very well thoughtout.

We were pleasantly surprised at how well this portable tankless water heater works. You must have a pressurized water supply though and not just gravity fed. Assembly was easy and instructions were good. There is a specific process that must be followed when starting the water heater. We hooked the unit up to a propane tank and to our garden hose and as soon as the water was turned on, the igniter lit and the water instantly began to heat up. The water was very warm within seconds. When you turn the shower nozzle off, the fire instantly goes out. The unit only lights and uses propane when the shower nozzle is actually turned on and the water is flowing so we used very little propane for wetting and rinsing the vehicle. The igniter required 2 D batteries and you can hear it click several times and then ignite each time you turn the water on. The pressure was really good at the nozzle end but we did have a water leak at the connection on the underside of the tank so we changed out the washer twice (their supplied washers) but it did not stop the water leak. Also, the water never reached "scalding" at full water pressure but it was definitely warm enough to shower. We found that the lower the water pressure we used, the hotter the water became. Overall we are very pleased with this instant tankless water heater and will use it for washing vehicles, dogs, and outdoor showers. The only issue we had with this tankless water heater was the water leaking at the connection on the underside of the unit so we will be replacing their washers with some hopefully better ones.

Camplux 1.32 GPM Outdoor Portable Propane Gas Camping Shower with Pump Pack Kits,Gray

Customer photo review of Camplux 1.32 GPM Outdoor Portable Propane Gas Camping Shower with Pump Pack Kits,Gray

This is a nice kit for a portable water heater, including stands and carry bag.The first thing you should know is that the water flow is less than even most "high-efficiency" or low flow showerheads. It's sufficient for a camp shower but can't compare to a home shower. Also, this works best if the source water temperature is at least mid-40's. Anything colder and you may not get quite as "hot" of a shower as you might like. The water source needs to be pressurized between 10 to 110 psi. This is very easy to set up and to operate. They provide an adapter hose/regulator for 20-lbs propane tanks to the quick-connect fitting on the water heater. The water intake accepts a standard 3/4" garden hose fitting. The water outlet is also a 3/4" fitting, and they provide a hose and showerhead for output. The showerhead has 3 spray patterns and a stop function. There are only two controls on the water heater - one for gas flow, which is how you control the temperature, and one for water flow to adjust the pressure. Start with the lowest gas flow and highest water flow and adjust from there until you achieve the temperature and flow desired. This is an auto-ignition device, and it will ignite as it senses water flow. Two D-cell batteries are required to provide the power for ignition. They do not include the D-cell batteries with the water heater, they must be purchased separately. There are a couple of mounting points built-in to the water heater to make it easy to hang or mount to the wall, and there is a folding handle you can use to carry or hang the water heater from. The carry bag is capable of storing EVERYTHING, including the stands. The stands need to be screwed onto the bottom of the water heater to use them. Screws are provided. This is perhaps my only complaint - I wish they used clamps or something as screws are easy to lose when camping. In the kit, they provided one additional storage "belt" with pockets that can store hoses, fittings or other small items. I'm not quite sure how they intend this to be used as the elastic belt is larger than the water heater. I'm not sure what it's meant to go around, it's kind of a mystery to me.This is pretty well thought out for ease-of-use and seems very sturdy. It's not the "Ritz" but it will get the job done when you're camping. I'm quite pleased with it overall as a camping or off-grid shower solution and think it's definitely worth the price.

I was sceptic at first. But wow, this thing does work great.Installing is easy. Plug and play.Expect for the stand that I have to screw. The water does heat up pretty quick.Once the propane is connected and water hose is attached. The water will be flowing out on the shower head. One thing I didn’t like is, there’s no on/off switch for the water. One the faucet is on, water is on and it takes like 5-10 seconds to warm the water. Thats quick for me.Heat temperature can be controlled. Which is good. Without it, probably water will boiling. It needs 2 D batteries. Not included on the package.Price is reasonable.I would recommend it.

This CAMPLUX portable tankless water heater is terrific. Without a water heater in our travel trailer and vacation cabin, this is the perfect answer to quick set up and use. It is really handy to have the free standing base for the trailer and a built in wall hanger for the cabin. Quick set up and disassembly. The sturdy carry bag provided makes it easy and convenient to pack up and transport. No tools needed. Just bring along your own propane tank and enjoy endless hot water.

Great water heater and even better customer service. Bought one and had a malfunction. Customer service was one of the best I've ever personally dealt with. Sent a new one immediately and it has worked perfect. Use it every weekend at the hunting club.

Camplux AY132GMAX Portable Propane Water Heater, Pump Stand Kit

Exactly as described. Very good packing, no issues with shipping. Easy to assemble with good instructions. Heats the water very fast and ample water flow. Highly recommend for overland camping and back shower when the power goes out. Two thumbs up 👍🏻

Camplux AY132GMAX Portable Propane Water Heater, Pump Stand Kit

I am beyond satisfied. I was contemplating buying a much cheaper portable electric water heater. I have no regrets spending the extra money for the LP on demand unit. It produces hot water at a pressure and volume that is nearly as good as home. I only used the unit for one trip and it worked right out of the box. I literally did not even unbox it until we reached our camping location. very nice unit well worth the money.

Camplux AY132GMAXP Portable Propane Water Heater, Pump Stand Kit

Overall it seems to do what I bought it to do which is heat water for a shower. However as I set it up for use I see the back has several screws that protrude the back so I can’t just hang it on the side of my van during use. It would completely scratch the van so I will need to file down the screws and then adhere some kind of padding to the back. Additionally as I try going to your website to buy a filter for the intake hose I don’t see an actual accessory page. I also wanted to order a longer intake hose for pulling water from an available creek or lake but no tubes available and no dimensions on the provided tube to order filters and extensions from Amazon. The other thing I noticed was a nice soft case everything was fit into in the video I ordered from was not included and the spray nozzle is very cheap in its design and use of materials in construction. All this would be fine if there was a list of available upgrades and accessories. It does seem to heat water though

Camplux AY132GMAXP Portable Propane Water Heater, Pump Stand Kit

Ordered the system with the stand and water pump. Just was able to test it at home so far. First impressions: system is compact and light weight, water heats up really quickly, the storage bag is quite nice. Took 1 star off for some minor items, which if modified would make it an outstanding product. First, the system doesn’t come with the required D batteries. Really? I spend several hundred $s and batteries aren’t included? Second, the stand is 2 pieces which attach to the heater with thumb screws. Was hoping the base pieces would connect to be a solid base before the unit would sit on it. It’s going to be darn inconvenient when the thumb screws start getting lost, because you know it’s going to happen. Third are the hose clamps that come with the water pump to connect the lines to the pump. Had a lot of trouble getting the teeth to feed through on both clamps, took 15 minutes of ‘fiddling’ to finally get them working. Fourth, the model I purchased has both water and heat dials the same black color. Wish these were color coded. Finally, the instructions aren’t great if you can find an online video, that may be better. Yes, all are little things but, for me, the details matter. Hopefully, this is taken as constructive criticism as it overall seems like a good product.

FAQ

The essential type (AY132 & AY132B) does not draw water by itself as it does not have a built-in pump. You will need a pressurised water source to feed water into the unit. Consider our Complete Pump Pack

To drain the device properly, please open the drain stern at the bottom right of the water heater, turning in a counter clockwise direction. Disconnect all incoming and outgoing water lines to ensure proper drainage from the water heater.

As long as you have good water supply.

Camplux Camper Kit has an adjustable water flow rate between 2.5-6 LPM (0.6-1.6 GPM). So, if you want a 5-minute shower, you will use between 12.5-30 litres (3.3-8 gallons) of water.

The unit was designed for portable outdoor use. It is splash-proof and can manage a little drizzle, however, prolonged exposure to rain/water will damage the internal components. We recommend our Pro Series which can install a weather-proof rain cap and has larger flow rate (from 1.58 to 5.28 GPM).

It uses gas to heat up water and can run off 9kg (20lb) BBQ gas bottles for 16 hours of continuous use.
